Mercy Tripura is a self-trained home cook, licensed/certified bartender and mixologist living in Canada. Her business venture started in Bangladesh with her fashion brand, Mercy’s, a Chittagong Hill Tracts-inspired modern clothing line. She is also the creator of the popular satire cooking series titled ”My Shada Bileti Gadha” on her YouTube channel Banglar Bartender. She is now the host of her brand new podcast Nabanoor, where she explores her culinary journey with her friends. Nabanoor aims to be the first Bangla language podcast for women across the planet. My beautiful and talented guest Kabery Sultana is with us on the 31st episode of the #Nabanoor #podcast and we are so excited to have her. She is an artist who completed her BFA and MFA From Jahangirnagar University with a major in Drawing & Painting. She is now well-known as a disability rights specialist and activist. Her advocacy work for people with disabilities revolves around accessibility and safety in architecture, transportation, and the physical environment; equal opportunities in independent living, employment equity, education, and housing; and freedom from discrimination, abuse, neglect, and from other rights violations. Kabery is currently working as a National UN Volunteer Specialist while also working as a chairperson of MDPOD (Manikganj Disabled People’s Organization to Development). She is also the Founder of the Advocacy Group for Person’s with Disability, Jahangirnagar University. This multi-talented human being is also an acclaimed Reciter, and Recitation trainer and was the Ex-vice president of “Dhoni” (2017 to 2018), Jahangirnagar University. Apart from her huge resume she also dipped her toes in the beauty pageant scene of Bangladesh and became the Semi-Finalist of Codomo Miss Evergreen Bangladesh in 2023.

Though my guest today on the #Nabanoor #podcast needs no introduction, it is an absolute honor that the one and only Sadia Khalid Reeti will be among us. This gorgeous woman with a beautiful soul is the first Bangladeshi woman to serve as a FIPRESCI jury member at the prestigious Festival de Cannes (Cannes Film Festival). And she did it twice. She has also served as a jury member at numerous international film festivals in Italy, India, England, Nepal, France, Russia, Bangladesh and most recently Iran, to name just a few. Sadia studied Screenwriting at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She has also worked as an entertainment journalist in Dhaka and Los Angeles since 2012. A Berlinale Talent Press alumna, she attended mentorship programs with Film Independent and Locarno Open Doors. She also teaches film studies at different universities and institutions and is the recipient of Charles Wallace Fellowship from the British Council and also a voting member of the prestigious Golden Globes Award. Sadia is currently a member of the National Film Advisory Committee in Bangladesh.

Completing her SSC and HSC Mymensigh Girls’ Cadet College and Business Administration undergrad from Jahangirnagar University, Ema is currently working as a Communication Specialist at Sustainable Agriculture Foundation. She is involved in a project that works to ensure nutrition in urban & suburban areas for unprivileged people. The project also works with local farmers to enhance the production of safe vegetables. Apart from her current job and two years of experience in the corporate IT sector, she is also doing a Masters in Development Studies at BRAC University. Ema will also share her journey and transition from Bangladesh's corporate to the development and non-profit sector.

Venessa is also a veteran artist who has invested most of her life creating & learning elements of expression through lines, colors, and words, her art and poetry explore concepts of gender identity, body image, social taboos, mental health, and human behavioral aspects. From a young age, she has been persistent in discovering new grounds and exploring emotions that led to an articulated list of countless international achievements including the first in Bangladesh to achieve Top Of The World Grades in Art , win Art Battle Dhaka & a women@Dior - UNESCO Leadership programe Mentee in progress. Regardless of the pain and struggles, she finds peace in molding her feelings into visual forms of expression for the world to relate to and perhaps help the bitterness of life become bearable by trying to find beauty in all that has been lost.
